Minto Cup Recap- Game 4

There will be a Game 5! The Orangeville Northmen made it clear from the opening buzzer that they were not going to rollover after a bit of adversity. Orangeville took control of the game in the second scoring three straight goals which gave them a 4-2 lead after two periods.

The crowd was a big factor for the Coquitlam Adanacs, but Head Coach Pat Coyle says his teams needs to energize the crowd and they did not do that in the middle frame, “in the second we didn’t really have the intensity. That is something we need to work on, if we are more intense than the crowd feeds off of that and they feed each other I think. We didn’t really take advantage of that in the second.”

After scoring a quick goal early in the third, Orangeville surrendered three straight which led to a 5-5 tie with minutes to go. Joel Tinney was the miracle man scoring late in the game to lift the Northmen to a 6-5 victory over the Coquitlam Adanacs.

The deciding Game 5 takes place Monday, August 29 th at 8:00pm inside the Langley Events Centre. Both coaches are already looking at their game plan for the final showdown.

“We are going to need a consistent effort for sixty minutes. Our defense is going to have to be solid and we are going to need to finish on our chances,” said Head Coach DJ Clevely. “I keep singing his praises, but their goalie down there is excellent and they are a resilient group, they’ve been to seven Minto Cups in a row, it’s going to be a real tall order. I have confidence in our guys like I’m sure their coaches have confidence in their guys, there is not much you can do on both sides, just going to go out there and see what the boys can do.”

On the other side of things Head Coach Pat Coyle has a simpler take, “I think we have to work harder, we need to win some battles. They are a big strong defense and we need to move our feet. (To win the game) we will have a higher score than the other team.”
