'Bellies Family Suffers Tragedy

by Owen Munro

To all our Lacrosse Friends and Family,

On the evening of Saturday, June 15thBellies GM Warren Goss and wife and Shawna received a phone call from the London England police informing them that their daughter, Emily, had been struck by a drunk driver. They needed to get to London immediately. Warren, Shawna, their other children Hayden and Jamie along with Shawna's mother Wendy, frantically packed and took the next flight to London. We would all agree would be the longest flight of their lives.

They were rushed off the plane by London police and taken to a local hospital where they saw their little girl with many tubes sticking out of her. Emily was placed in a medically induced coma for a few days and they are still constantly monitoring the swelling in her brain. Warren and Shawna will stay by Emily’s side until she can come home however,  this serious situation may take several months.

The cost of flights, accommodations, lost income, and many other intangibles will be additional unneeded stress at this time. Everyone inquiring thus far has asked how they can help and have offered to send money to support them. Deb Heard, wife of Burnaby Lakers' Head Coach Russell, and a good friend of the Goss' have set up an account so we can send money to Warren & Shawna to support the entire Goss family in this critical situation..

There are a number of ways you can donate if you so wish and any amount would be helpful and greatly appreciated::

  • E-transfer to debheard@shaw.ca
  • Donate at Sunday, June 23rd Tri-City Masters field games
  • Donate at the Burnaby Junior A Lakers home game Thursday, June 27th at Bill Copeland 8 PM

All monies donated will be sent directly to the Goss family to assist them as needed.

Please send your positive thoughts and messages to the Goss family.
