The Race is Heating Up

BCJALL Midseason Report

With the regular season officially reaching its halfway point, the BC Junior A Lacrosse League is shaping up to be one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory.

Despite the Victoria Shamrocks’ statement victory this past Sunday over the previously undefeated Coquitlam Adanacs, the standings remain incredibly tight. The Coquitlam Adanacs and Langley Thunder continue to sit atop the league standings with 15 points each, while the Port Coquitlam Saints and Victoria Shamrocks are close behind with 12 points and both carrying impressive winning streaks into Week 6.

From overtime thrillers to one-goal nail-biters, fans across the league have been treated to exciting lacrosse every week. With half of the season still remaining, every game and every point will become increasingly important as teams battle for playoff positioning.

League Leaders

The race for the scoring title is just as competitive.

Port Coquitlam Saints forward Josh Mills currently leads the BCJALL in points with 39 and assists with 25, continuing to be one of the league’s most dangerous offensive threats.

Meanwhile, Delta Islanders sniper Jared Maznik leads all players in goals with 18, consistently finding ways to put the ball in the back of the net.

Between the Pipes

Strong goaltending has been a major factor in many teams’ success this season.

Delta Islanders netminder Greyson Beggs currently leads the league with an impressive .865 save percentage. Right behind him are the Khan brothers, with Caleb Khan posting a .864 save percentage and Marcus Khan close behind at .863.

As teams prepare for the second half of the season, goaltending performances could prove to be the difference between securing home-floor advantage and fighting for a playoff spot.

Looking Ahead

Week 6 features seven games across the league, with several key matchups that could have a significant impact on the standings.

The race for first place is far from decided, winning streaks are building, and every team still has plenty to play for.

One thing is certain: the second half of the BCJALL season promises to be must-watch lacrosse.
