TRADE: Shoemay Heading to New West
TRADE
Patrick Shoemay
Junior A Playing Rights to Liam Birch & Connor DImmick
2019 3rd & 5th Round Picks in 2019 BCJALL Entry Draft
Future Considerations
The Salmonbellies have acquired Patrick Shoemay from the Burnaby Lakers as the continue their quest to make the 2018 Minto Cup in Calgary, AB.
Shoemay will be a welcomed addition to New West's backend and transition game. Despite only playing 6 games so far, Shoemay has a goal and five assists and can play in a number of situations. He can chip on the short man as well as rag the ball to take time off opposition Power Play opportunities.
In return, the Lakers get the playing rights to Liam Birch and Connor Dimmick. Birch was the No. 47 overall selection in the 2018 BCJALL Entry Draft and is plying his trade with the Richmond Roadrunners in the BCJT1 League. Birch is having an excellent season with Richmond with 29 points through nine goals and 20 assists in 12 games. The Lakers can see his obvious potential and he may be a callup option later in the season for Burnaby.
Dimmick was also a recent draft pick of New West, being taken at No. 47 in the 2017 BCJALL Entry draft.
